About Design Innovation Centre

Design Innovation Centre ‘Navaashay’-नवाशय is one of the Centres of Excellence of Indian Institute of Management Kashipur, Uttarakhand, India. It was established in the year 2018 under the National Initiative of Design Innovation of Ministry of Education, Government of India (as per twelfth plan). The DIC at Indian Institute of Management follows a Hub and Spoke model with hub as Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Uttarakhand and two spokes as National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand (NITUK) and G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUA&T), Uttarakhand, India.

Navaashay is envisaged as a nexus for education, training, design-led research, and consultancy, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to problem solutions in the service of students, government, and organizations. The objectives of the centre have been linked with the mission of the IIM Kashipur:

“The institute strives to create and disseminate knowledge through applied and interdisciplinary research and practices in emerging areas of management. The institute develops socially conscious, competent, and ethical business leaders and researchers capable of critical thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship while being inclusive and focusing on both regional development and internationalisation”.

Mission

  1. The centre aims to foster a design and innovation culture within the institute by focusing on issues in the North-West Himalayan region and other national priority areas.
  2. Navaashay encourages multidisciplinary design-focused innovation and design thinking-led issue solutions through design-based education and projects.
  3. The centre’s goal is to improve interaction/collaboration with institutions/organizations around the world and to develop a flagship programme in design and innovation.
